Coaches
Sam Howell

If you have gotten more coaching and still did not get the results you are seeking, perhaps the dilemma lies within you mentally/emotionally?

I tell my students when they are struggling to simply stop trying to achieve ANY specific results. Trying too hard is a spiral that can pull anyone into a whirlwind of expectations and then frustration. This lack of achievement then fuels further spinning whirlwinds of self doubt and internal sabotage to join the overexertion.

I often use the analogy of running as fast as you can ,but then a bit faster and you trip over yourself. (You will also find this is true with breaking the rack with extra power or on the last 8-ball shot jinx.)

So, then how does one go about solving this issue? Although it could be different for different people based on learning style or personality traits, I would suggest letting your instincts and inner pool player autopilot subconscious self do the shooting and simply step out of the way. Your mind is a powerful tool if it is allowed to operate unimpeded!

A trained pool players mind is primed for great feats as well. However, it must be tuned in and then allowed to operate without distractions such as: expectation, ego, results, doubt, values, identity, excess baggage, and many other covert operatives that sabotage and destroy us from within.

I know this may sound esoteric, New Age Existentialistic Zen crazy stuff to some people, but it really is true and it works!
